In a fixed mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that’s that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don’t necessarily think everyone’s the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it (Carol Dweck, Stanford University)

People with a fixed mindset believe they are born with their abilities which are fixed and unchangeable but the people with a growth mindset believe their abilities can be developed and strengthened over time through hard work and commitment.

Here are some of the Amal totkay for growing mindset:

1. Self Talk

It is your self conversation in which you talk with yourself about your own strengths and capabilities. Instead of saying yourself that you cannot do this, you should say yourself that “I can do” and “I will do”. These sentences will surely motivate you. Try to think positive instead of negative thoughts. The more positive you are the more creative you will be. This will surely upgrade your growth mindset.

2. Get out of Your Comfort Zone

For growth mindset, it is necessary to put yourself in a situation which seems difficult for you. So, if you are not getting out of your comfort zone you cannot learn and gain experiences. In short, for growth mindset always ready to face new challenges and overcome them with full courage.

3. Create new Habits

For “growth” mindset, start noting down your learnings and achievements every day. When you look at your daily experiences and achievements, you can easily judge yourself and easily build those habits this will leads you towards growth mindset.

4. Ask People For Help

Always try to seek help and opinion from your nearest and dearest person to comment on how your functioning and interactions with people have changed recently.

5. Fake it till you make it

There is another approach for the growth mind set that if you are acting like you are competent and confident in an area then such capabilities will eventually develop in yourself and you yourself feel more confident i.e., “Fake it till you make it”.

I found these tips through AMAL fellowship and these are really helpful for me to develop growth mindset. Some of the tips I have not applied before but after knowing these amal totkas, I will try to apply all these tips in my daily routine.

My Favorite Tip
